blog report, May 1

I generally do the stats for the blogs around the first, regardless of how well I'm doing keeping them up. This month was bad, because, basically, I spent the month enjoying the release of my new book and directly or indirectly trying to get people to read it. After I released it I published it on eleven blogs and then simply stopped for the month - not a good move. Numbers were down all across the board.

I'm actually concerned about what people get when they do drop in. They are not incredibly fixed up or appealing. Every once in a while the blog carousel will pick one of them up, randomly, and if they're on that blog carousel they get seen by logs of random people. This month it happened to esl corner, a sleepy blog near the bottom of my personal 28. esl corner has never gotten as many hits as it now had in a single month. But what did people see? Not much.

It's not that they went down so much, they're just kind of drying out from under-use. This is a situation I have to correct, starting now.
