monthly blog report

OK as a recap - I have about 34 live blogs - only seven of them are commercial, and even those, barely so - I was trying to lean more commercial to drive traffic to my books. I have one new one, best of indie, which I am using to be a kind of author's blog - me, and informal, but informing people of what's going on in my author's world. It kind of straddles the two, personal and professional. And it's nowhere near what you'd call a professional author's blog.

But these blogs get hundreds of hits every month, and I track them. I have no idea if anyone clicks on my author's page and buys books from them; my guess is no. But they're out there with my face on them and they represent me. Which means I should weed a few of them out, make the remaining ones slicker, and perhaps make a clearer line between personal and professional.

One of the big surprises this month is a blog called esl corner, which never had much on it but now is getting traffic like crazy. It's like someone found it as a job resource and linked to it (it does have that on it) and everyone is looking for ESL/EFL work or something. Something is driving traffic by the hundreds. I may have to do research.

More are up than down, and that's good, and the medium-range ones are especially hopping. I don't know what drives it - never really did - and like I say, lots need an overhaul, or clear thinking. Looking forward to starting a couple of them for Galesburg, just as something to do.

As if I didn't have enough to do.
