blog report Sept. 1
so I did an interesting thing, I put my commercial blogs on the top of my list, so I think about them more and am encouraged to post on them more. Yes, only three or four of them are getting real action, the other three or four are mired in disuse, but still. I've got a new commercial blog thing going, and I'm putting it first.
Blogs are overall a little better. Up wins in every segment except the dead blogs, and they're dead, so any progress or lack thereof, on those, is coincidental anyway. Of the things I'm doing, maybe I'm doing a little more. Or maybe they're worth reading, or have attractive titles that make people click on them out of google or wherever.
I don't really check where my traffic comes from. The mystery one, tom's esl corner, has continued to rock so I suspect somebody on a job board linked to it or something, and thousands are trying to go abroad to teach esl/efl. This would then correspond to the Supreme Court's overturning of Roe vs. Wade, or perhaps some other event. I have always suspected that it's mostly outside influences that cause people to absentmindedly surf the web, then they tend to stop at random places, not really even that concerned if they get to their own objective very quickly. In other words, most random visitors are very raandom.
Another theory of blog traffic is that it's really the weather that determines whether people like me sit around and open a bunch of random pages. They're clicking randomly, for the most part. I get thousands of hits and very few reads. By reads I am referring to people even reading the blog, or the titles of the posts.
