Blog report Mar. 1
February was a much better month than January; in fact I'd characterize it as "back to normal" with January unusually and almost universally terrible. This can be explained by a couple of simple theories. One is that the vast majority of blog traffic is motivated by shopping, and, January is bad as a kind of reaction to the Christmas over-spending.
This theory would make sense if November and December were great months, but I'm not sure I can say that. Also, in the past I've had the "weather theory," namely, when it gets nice out, people go outside and don't have time to surf the web. I actually think all these theories apply but am not sure which are more prevalent. The January and February stats are definitely pointing to the first theories.
I have a number of blog objectives that I'm just plain not getting to, and I have to do something about that. For one thing my main tlevspress blog needs constant upgrading and I'm behind a few months. It points to a few bad links or old covers and that's not good. A website should be updated in particular a commercial one. These commercial ones were lagging this month, not as much a rebound as the personal ones. But that's consistent with the theory also. If it's commercialism that has really taken a dive in January, for commercial reasons (people have no money, don't feel good surfing the web, since they know they'll want to buy stuff) - then it makes sense that when it comes back, commercial come back later.
But about the question of how to get myself to address my own needs, well, I'm not sure. I set out, early in the month, to post on twelve, naturally. Some months, it takes me most of the month to do that. Then I'm kind of tired of worrying about it so I take a break. But I shouldn't be taking a break from doing what's necessary, i.e. updating esp. the commercial ones. AND, they should all have links to the most important places. 'Nuff said.
