July 1 report
Stunning numbers this month, a record I'm sure, and I'm not sure why. Nineteen blogs got over a thousand visitors. Seven blogs now have running averages (3 mo. averaged) over a thousand with the main blog over ten thousand. A writing blog got six thousand. The main blog got 24,000. Only two blogs total went down.
An obvious explanation might be the carousel. Every once in a while blogger comes through and puts your blogs on display, if they're public, and shows them to people who click through wanting to just see random blogs. In my experience you can pick up a few hundred hits if this happens and it's relatively temporary and random - they'll be gone next month. But it's possible that blogger grabs all or most of my blogs in a single month since they are in order in its system, all or most being on the same server.
Both servers were up, the commercial ones too, though I've come to accept the fact that I don't have a commercial bone in my body so even the commercial ones are basically personal. The only way I have any success keeping them updated and keeping it coming is to have personal things to say and do with them so that's what I do. I blab. Sometimes people read it. Nobody seems to buy books based on them, or at least not much.
Of course that last one is what I need to change and need to change it right away. I need to update the press website with new prices etc. And it's getting urgent.
But back to the swarms of visitors. Hot weather could drive people indoors to surf the web. Vacation could have just set in for a third of the population. School is out. These are other reasons people are surfing around.
Whatever it is, I need these blogs to be pointing to my books.
